Happy New Year

I'm sure like many of u out there your glad to have headaches of the mad dash of the holidays are behind. I don't know about u but this year has been tight & called upon a lot of last minute creativity to make sure that everyone got a little something. Why is it we put so much presure on ourselves to find that special something for someone. We all say the same things holidays should be about family & friends but in the back of our minds we get the nagging feeling our love is really judged by how much we spend. Myself I fail at that I admit I don't often shop in the box stores but look elsewhere for something one of a kind. I enjoy the hunt I enjoy that my hard earned dollar is going to support my community that I help the environment & the thrill of being drawn to an object. In that moment I can picture the person opening such a gift their eyes lighting up in suprise at something that may add to allready bursting collection or having lisened to a softly spoken want. You could say I'm green or frugal or just plain too broke to get a shinny often over priced it gift. Now that the gifts have been unwraped maybe I'm not such a bad gifter I have less paper waste (love those reuseable shopping bags) & a lot of you shouldn't have's. Now as new year's dawn upon us the tree & decorations have lost some of their sparkle as u think about the task of sorting & repacking (hey didn't we just get this stuff up we hear our husbands grumble). Its time to reflect on how can it be that a year has gone by. Every year goes by way to quick with moments & memories we hope we did the best we could as we compile a new or not so new list of resolutions. We have a whole year of living behind us with the hope of a better one ahead. I hope for whoever reads this has a blessed 2010 toast to your health friends & family.

summer

Boy has it gotten hot out here in my nick of the woods, school just let out & the kids are already driving me crazy. Anyone out there with plans? We are too broke to even think of vacations, but we do plan to hit the park if we drive outa town we can even take the dogs along, our local library has summer reading program to engage the youth, vbs programs for varied ages & lucky we don't live to far from the coast to enjoy the beach (that is if we can get a parking spot a little tricky sense its tourist season & don't want to pay a meter & lastly if thunder boomers aren't in the forecast no one wants to become BBQ). The one thing I hate about living here is so much of city planing is going for the senior generation, they closed down the sport center that conected with the skate & bowling ally to replace with strip malls last summer. Even worse they messed with the beach taking down our circle for condos & tore down jungle land sadly its just an empty lot where so many familly enjoyed a cheap afternoon fun of mini golf, bumper boats, acades & rides just across from the beach. So here it is the begaining of summer with so many young people free of school, what is to become of them? Parents still have to work with budgets tight & safe places to hang with friends & activities to keep the mind & body engaged becoming scarce. I worry about the teens with nothing to do & time on their hands. Food for thought for city planners out there.

Happy Spring

Hello, fellow web surfers. I still haven't been much of a blogger (too busy reading others & grateful for their hard work) but wanted to say thanks to anyone who might be reading mine. Hope everyone had a wonderful Easter weekend & thinking spring (many things are coming into bloom already). Want to take a moment to say be safe out there (April showers bring May flowers but lately here we hear wicked weather is a foot so keep an eye to the sky). Thanks again for reading my blog & as always I invite anyone to leave a note.
